Community-Engaged Place-Making and Urban Forestry

In partnership with Canopy, a community-based urban forestry organization, we are investigating how collective tree planting activities cultivate sense of place, community connection, and environmental action. Through participant observation at planting events and a photovoice project with youth , we explore how hands-on engagement with urban greening efforts strengthens residents' relationships with their neighborhoods and with one another. This work contributes to broader understanding of how place-based conservation activities can inspire ongoing collective environmental stewardship.
