Flora Jiaxuan Xu is a PhD student in the Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment Resources (E-IPER). Flora is interested in the synergy between the natural and built environment through sustainable architecture, biophilic design, and behavioral science with the aid of advancing technologies like VR.
Flora’s previous research focuses on green and healthy buildings, specifically the impact of buildings and indoor environment on human health, wellbeing, productivity, and creativity. Flora aims to extend her research in promoting pro-environmental behaviors through technological and design interventions with sustainable features, as well as the social-ecological interactions and behavioral psychology behind the environmental problems.
Flora holds a MS in Environmental Health from Harvard University and two BAs in Sustainable Environmental Design and Cognitive Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
